Testimonials

"I used Pop Pop The Clown to draw the attention to the vendors at our farmers market. How popular he would be and wound up with a line all the way outside of the market of people waiting for their balloons. Success was obvious with those who came in going to the various vendors for business before and after getting their balloon. His patience and caring for each child showed above all."
Maribelle S.
"I was asked to say something about my thoughts about Pop Pop The Clown. I think the best way to make a statement is that when they made him they threw away the mold. Also, I have never seen anyone relate to and keep the attention of children as he does. He is just great."
Rakesh J.
"I am an administrator at a hospital where Pop Pop The Clown volunteers. It is a pleasure to watch how well he relates to the children in a sensitive and empathic manner causing them to smile despite being in a hospital setting. Pop Pop is a 'one-at-a-kind person'."

About Pop Pop the Clown

Steve Dunner is native New Yorker who has been fortunate enough to have had three careers, as a chef at the Barbazon Plaza Hotel in New York, a Newspaper Designer for the Washington Post and as a Graphics Manager for Keystone MercyHealth Plan/ Astra Zeneca, from which he retired.  He is a graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology holding degrees in Printing Management, Graphic Arts, Graphic Arts and Photography with specialties in typographic and newspaper design.

Having lived in Delaware since 1975, Steve raised two girls. It was during the years of raising his children that he first delved into clowning at parties for the girls. However, he became intensely involved in entertaining children when his granddaughter came down with terminal cancer and he had the opportunity to visit with her and other children in the hospital dressed in costumes. After her death he first became a volunteer at the A I Dupont Hospital for children and later a member of the organization known as “Caring Clowns” which provides clowns for area hospitals. He actively does clown volunteer work for a variety of cancer organizations.

In 2004 when his company downsized, Steve decided to take an early retirement and seek out that which he enjoyed the most, mainly working with children. He then became a substitute teacher for the Red Clay, Christina and Colonial School District. After taking clown courses he became a clown magician specializing in face painting, magic and balloon making. His instructors were previously with Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey Circus.
Steve has been “background aproved” through the FBI, Delaware State Police and Pennsylvania State Police. He is a member of Clowns of America International, The Mid Atlantic Clown Association and The World Clown Association.

Steve is available for community events which includes parties, fairs, senior centers, restaurants, openings or any occasion for which happiness and laughter can be added to through his clown or magician talents. He provides balloon making, magic, and face painting.
